Mar Thoman Nazrani

Mar Thoma (St. Thomas, (born , probably Galilee—died AD 53, India), one of the Twelve Apostles. His name in Aramaic (Te'oma) and Greek (Didymos) means “twin”; John 11:16 identifies him as “Thomas, called the Twin.” He is called Judas Thomas (i.e., Judas the Twin) by the Syrians.

The St. Thomas Christians of India, known as Mar Thoma Nasranis, simply Nasranis or Syrian Christians, are an ethnic Christian community that trace their origin to Apostolic times. The ancestors of Nasranis were baptised by St. Thomas the Apostle, one of the disciples of Jesus Christ.

Mar Thoma Metropolitan (Malankara Metropolitan / Metropolitan of Malabar) is a legal title given to the head of the Malankara Churchby by the Syrians Christians. Current Mar Thoma Metropolitan is His Grace Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan .

The Mar Thoma Church (Malankara Church) was established by Thomas the Apostle at the same time as Saint Paul established the church in Corinth. The Church defines itself as "Apostolic in origin, Universal in nature, Biblical in faith, Evangelical in principle, Ecumenical in outlook, Oriental in worship, Democratic in function, and Episcopal in character. Headquartered at Thiruvalla in Kerala, in India, the church has followers across the globe.
